In 1964, Reverend Leon H. Sullivan established the Opportunities Industrialization Center Of America Inc. (OICA), dedicated to providing comprehensive employment training and placement for disadvantaged, unemployment Americans of all races. As the creator of the community-based job training movement, today there are 76 affiliates worldwide. The economic impact of the affiliates located throughout the United States alone is estimate at more than $200 billion dollars with over two million people provided the skills and knowledge to move toward self-sufficiency.


Bexar county OIC began operations in San Antonio in 1973 as an affiliate of Opportunities Industrialization Centers of America (OICA). Bexar County OIC has helped over 47,000 San Antonio residents make the move to self-sufficiency and enjoy the benefits of employment and beco0me flourishing member of the community.
